From its humble beginnings in Cuba in 1935, Montecristo cigars quickly became the world’s most famous cigar trademark. In July 1935, Alonso Menendez purchased the Particulares cigar factory with hopes of creating a new premium cigar brand. During this time, it was common among torcedores (cigar rollers) to have the famous Alexandre Dumas novel “The Count of Monte Cristo” read by a lector on the cigar rolling floor. Inspired by this tradition, Menendez gave life to one of the most well-known cigar brands today – Montecristo. The now-famous Montecristo logo, consisting of a triangle of six swords surrounding a fleur-de-lis, was designed by John Hunter Morris and Elkan Co. Ltd., the brand’s British distributor. By Employing the finest cigar masters and rollers in the world, Montecristo continues to maintain its reputation as one of the finest cigars on the market and the standard by which other cigars are judged. Not a company to rest on their laurels, Montecristo provides a portfolio of fabulous blends in every shape, strength, wrapper color and size to accommodate your smoking needs.

Montecristo’s perfectly balanced blends are created exclusively with selected filler and binder leaves from the Vuelta Abajo zone, home of the finest tobaccos in the world and offers medium to full bodied cigars, totally hand made.
